1. Introduction

LingoSpeaker ("we", "us", or "our") is dedicated to protecting user privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information through our mobile application. We operate under a Privacy-by-Design principle, meaning we minimize data collection to the absolute necessity required for app functionality.

2. Detailed Data Collection & Processing

2.1 Personal Information (Directly Provided)

We do not require user accounts. Any "Display Name" you choose is stored locally in your device's EncryptedSharedPreferences. We do not have access to this name.

2.2 Audio & Speech Data IMPORTANT

To facilitate pronunciation practice, LingoSpeaker utilizes the Android Speech-to-Text (STT) API.

• No Recording: We do not record or store your voice. The audio is streamed directly to the system API.
• On-Device/Cloud Processing: Depending on your Android settings, Google may process this voice data on-device or via their servers. This is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
• Immediate Deletion: Once the API returns the recognized text, LingoSpeaker compares it to the target sentence and immediately discards the data.

2.3 Technical, Analytics & Notification Data

To improve your learning experience and app stability, we collect standard telemetry and usage data:

• App Analytics & Crash Reporting: We collect anonymous usage statistics (e.g., session length, screens visited, crash logs) to monitor app performance and fix bugs. This data cannot identify you personally.
• Push Notifications: To send you daily practice reminders and learning updates, we generate an anonymous device push token. You can opt out of these notifications at any time via your device's notification settings.
• Google AdMob: We use AdMob to serve advertisements. AdMob may collect and use Device Identifiers (Android Advertising ID), ad interaction events, and general IP-based location (Country/City level) to serve relevant ads.

3. Regulatory Compliance

3.1 COPPA Compliance (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act)

LingoSpeaker complies with COPPA. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we do not use accounts and do not store voice recordings, we do not maintain a database of children's personal identifiers. If you believe a child has inadvertently provided data via our API contact, we will delete it within 24 hours.

3.2 GDPR Compliance (EU General Data Protection Regulation)

For users in the EEA/UK, we act as a Data Controller for local app data and a Data Processor regarding third-party interactions (Analytics and AdMob).

• Legal Basis: Processing is based on Consent for personalized ads/notifications and Legitimate Interest for app analytics and core functionality.
• Rights: You have the right to access, rectify, or erase your data. Since your learning data is local, you can exercise these rights by clearing the app's storage in your Android settings.

3.3 CCPA/CPRA Compliance (California Privacy Rights)

California residents have the right to:

• Know: What categories of data we collect (Identifiers, Network Activity).
• Delete: Request deletion of collected data.
• Opt-Out: We do not "sell" personal information. However, "sharing" for cross-contextual behavioral advertising can be opted out of via Android System Settings (Privacy > Ads).

4. App Permissions

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We share data with the following third parties only for the purposes stated:

• Cloudflare Pages: Our static learning content (sentences data) at https://lingospeaker.pages.dev/ is hosted on Cloudflare. They act as a Content Delivery Network (CDN) and may log IP addresses temporarily for security routing and DDoS protection.
• Google Firebase / Analytics: Used for tracking app stability, user analytics, and delivering push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
• Google AdMob: Ad delivery and fraud prevention. AdMob Privacy Info.
• Google Play Services: Required for core app functionality and updates.

6. Data Security

We implement Android EncryptedSharedPreferences for all local learning data. This ensures that even if another app gains access to your device storage, your LingoSpeaker statistics and name remain encrypted and unreadable.

7. Your Data Control

You are in full control of your data:

• Clear Data: Settings > Apps > LingoSpeaker > Storage > Clear Data. This permanently deletes your progress, name, and local settings.
• Ad Reset: Settings > Google > Ads > Reset Advertising ID.
• Disable Notifications: Settings > Apps > LingoSpeaker > Notifications > Off.
